There are a few things you like for no apparent reason. Google is one such name that I like. I don't remember when I started using Google as a search engine. But the thing I really like about Google is the lack of "rigged" results. Its "organic" results are purely based on the contents of a website and google's own indexing formula; not biased by how much someone paid Google to give it a higher page rank. Also, Google has so far refrained from displaying any popups or banner ads that are so annoying for other search engines like MSN or Yahoo.
I also like their official slogan 'Do No Evil'. How many companies in today's world will admit that so openly and so boldly? Although I did not participate in google's IPO (and then lost subsequent opportunity of gains that followed), I do not regret that. I still feel that Google as a wall-street company is a very expensive company to own, at least at today's market price. But that does not mean I don't like what they do. In fact I LOVE what they do. They are "numero uno" in search engine technology. More recently, only Google had the guts to turn down government's request asking for search results. Although government's idea behind the law is good, its approach was not correct, I feel. Maybe they should have taken Google in confidence and asked for Google's help "nicely". Maybe Google would have complied. Or maybe just hoped that google will come forward on its own? The same way I am hoping that my website will appear in its index. Maybe it will...someday...
